PPMI | Part of the Verian Group has successfully completed the Assessment of stakeholder contributions for the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy, working in close cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) and Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV).
The EU Bioeconomy Strategy plays a central role in supporting sustainable and regenerative use of biological resources, strengthening industrial competitiveness and contributing to climate neutrality and environmental objectives. By linking innovation, circularity and ecosystem protection, the strategy provides a framework for aligning economic development with the Green Deal and long-term resilience of European value chains.
As part of this assignment, PPMI | Part of the Verian Group analysed and synthesised a large volume of stakeholder inputs submitted through the Commission’s Call for Evidence and public consultation, covering contributions from industry, academia, civil society, public authorities and citizens across the EU. Additionally, PPMI | Part of the Verian Group designed, organised and moderated four targeted stakeholder workshops to deepen discussions on key strategic themes, including circularity, sustainability of biomass use and market uptake of bio-based innovations.
The work resulted in the preparation of a short factual summary and a comprehensive synopsis report, developed in line with the Commission’s Better Regulation guidelines. The synopsis report was subsequently included in a European Commission Staff Working Document, providing DG RTD and DG ENV with an evidence-based and balanced overview of stakeholder views to inform the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy.
