Improving access to and reuse of research results, publications and data for scientific purposes

We are pleased to announce that PPMI has completed a comprehensive study focusing on the access of and reuse of research results. The latest initiative under the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda 2022-2024 has made substantial advancements in improving access to and reuse of publicly funded research results. This project, aligning with the European Union's commitment to Open Science, aimed to foster innovation and collaboration by addressing existing barriers in research data dissemination and reuse.

Using a methodological, evidence-based approach, the study includes literature reviews, surveys and interviews with legal experts and stakeholders. The study proposes legislative and non-legislative measures to improve the current EU copyright and data framework and align it with the needs of scientific research and open research data principles. The outputs of this project are set to transform the landscape of research in the EU. The standardized metadata and data management practices developed will significantly enhance data accessibility, making it easier for researchers to find and reuse data. Moreover, the project's guidelines and tools are expected to serve as benchmarks for future policy developments, promoting a sustainable and collaborative research environment.

This initiative not only supports the EU's Open Science agenda but also contributes to the broader goals of transparency, innovation, and cross-border scientific collaboration. As the project moves forward, its impact on the research community is anticipated to grow, ensuring that the fruits of publicly funded research are accessible and beneficial to all.
