PPMI to Review and Prepare a Consensus Document for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens micro-organism

Building on its work for HaDEA, where PPMI (part of the Verian Group) reviewed the biological and ecological properties of 37 micro-organism species, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has commissioned PPMI to review and prepare a consensus document for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Offering more biological alternatives to chemical plant protection products is essential to enhancing the sustainability of agricultural practices across OECD countries. Micro-organisms, such as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, are one of the most significant sources of alternatives to chemically active substances. Over time, the findings from this review are expected to support the more sustainable protection of crops.

PPMI will undertake a systematic literature review for this project, drawing on scientific publications and research-based data, as well as information from regulatory authorities such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The review will also include registered B. amyloliquefaciens products from various OECD countries, incorporating associated risk assessments. The results will be compiled into an OECD consensus document, summarising the internationally available literature and relevant regulatory information.
