PPMI | Part of the Verian Group has successfully completed a project, led by Verian Brussels, supporting the European Commission in monitoring compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) provisions on the protection of minors. This assignment provided evidence to the Commission for assessing whether Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) adequately address systemic risks to minors under Article 34 of the DSA and identifying where safeguards may need to be strengthened.
As part of this mix-methods study, the Vilnius office led a rapid literature review on potentially harmful platform design features and sock puppet account testing to gather firsthand evidence of how minors’ experience of VLOPs looks like. Verian Brussels implemented large-scale online surveys with parents and minors across 24 EU Member States and qualitative interviews with minors, to which PPMI | Part of the Verian Group also contributed.
