PPMI | Part of the Verian Group evaluates UNESCO’s project on Higher Education in Africa!

Africa, the world’s youngest continent, is home to 363 million youth, with 60% of its population under 25, and with around 11 million entering the labour market annually. Despite the continent’s vast potential, young people face persistent barriers including unemployment, underemployment, skills mismatches, limited job opportunities, gender inequality, and uncertainty in the informal sector.

With financial support from China, UNESCO launched the third phase of the China Funds-in-Trust Project Phase III: Higher Technical Education in Africa for a Technical and Innovative Workforce (CFIT III) covering 48 months between 2021 and 2025The project was implemented in Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The overall objective of the CFIT III project is:

  • enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) to respond to the skill needs for national development by facilitating collaboration between HEIs and the industry;
  • enhancing labour market-oriented teaching; and
  • strengthening competence-based learning.

PPMI | Part of the Verian Group was contracted by UNESCO to conduct the final evaluation of CFIT III covering all six countries. This is a great opportunity for us to continue our work on higher education in Africa (which started with our support to the European Training Foundation on the implementation of the African Continent Qualifications Framework)!
