PPMI (part of the Verian Group), together with its partners CHE, LOW, and Touch4IT, is proud to announce that it will be supporting the European Commission’s DG EAC in the management and further development of the HEInnovate self-assessment tool for higher education institutions, as well as the coordination of the Community of Practice for Educational Innovation (CEI). This strategic policy implementation project offers the consortium an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education across Europe and beyond.
Advancing Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education with HEInnovate
Launched in 2013 by the European Commission and the OECD, HEInnovate helps higher education institutions (HEIs) assess and strengthen their innovative and entrepreneurial potential. The free self-assessment tool encourages reflection across eight key dimensions, covering areas such as leadership, teaching and learning, digital transformation, and ecosystem engagement. Widely used by HEIs globally, HEInnovate has been instrumental in promoting university-business cooperation and supporting institutions in delivering broader social and economic impact.
PPMI and its partners will work closely with DG EAC to further develop and enhance the HEInnovate platform, including upgrading the website, refining the self-assessment tool, expanding the expert community, and organizing workshops in EU Member States and beyond.
Fostering Collaboration Through the Community of Practice for Educational Innovation
In parallel, the consortium will coordinate the Community of Practice for Educational Innovation (CEI), which brings together policymakers, educators, and business leaders to promote educational innovation at all levels. CEI offers members opportunities to network, participate in webinars and study visits, and engage in discussions on emerging trends. Hosted on a dedicated Microsoft Teams platform, the Community fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing across Europe.
In 2025 and 2026, CEI will focus on four key themes:
- From Research to Impact: Bridging the Innovation Gap in Higher Education
- Entrepreneurial Skills and Mindsets in Education
- Education for Green and Digital Innovation
- Lifelong Learning for an Innovative Workforce
PPMI and its partners will work to create synergies between HEInnovate users and CEI members, amplifying the impact of both initiatives and supporting higher education institutions in becoming more innovative, entrepreneurial, and future-ready.With combined expertise in research, technology, and policy, PPMI, CHE, LOW, and Touch4IT are committed to ensuring the project’s success and long-term impact.
