Help shape future EU policies to ensure virtual worlds are safe, inclusive, and empowering for all.
This interactive workshop will gather expert insights on the current and future impacts of virtual worlds on health and well-being across consumer, professional, and industrial settings, and for vulnerable groups. Participants will also collaborate to co-create actionable recommendations for harnessing opportunities and addressing risks linked to these impacts.
What can you expect from the workshop?
- Collaborative brainstorming on the potential future and current impacts of virtual worlds on health and well-being in breakout sessions focusing on specific application areas (e.g., gaming, healthcare, education).
- Co-creation of actionable recommendations for policymakers to address health and well-being concerns and promote positive outcomes.
Why it matters, and how will the outcomes of the workshop be used?
The outcomes of this workshop will contribute to the study ‘Virtual worlds: how do they affect our health and well-being?’, implemented by PPMI on behalf of the European Commission (DG CNECT).
This study aims to assess the health and well-being impacts of virtual worlds in consumer, industrial and professional environments, with special attention to vulnerable groups such as children, older adults, and persons with disabilities. It will also present recommendations for European policy makers and researchers on how to identify and address the potential adverse health and well-being effects of virtual world technologies.
