On behalf of the European Commission, PPMI, together with TNO and Verian, invite you to re-imagine the future of the EU’s platform economy in 2035. Be among the select group of visionaries who will chart the course for tomorrow's digital landscape.
Join the large-scale foresight exercise launched by DG CNECT and implemented by PPMI, where diverse expert minds converge to predict, prepare, and prosper in the face of technological innovation and uncertainty.
The foresight exercises deep dives into two separate topics:
- Future of personal data use and online identity: 23 October | 9:30 – 12:00 CET
- Future of digital autonomy: 24 October | 9:30 – 12:00 CET
Future of personal data use and online identity explores how digital platforms and businesses are reshaping individual identity presentation and personal data management in the era of rapid technological change and heightened privacy concerns. This evolving landscape raises critical questions about identity verification, consent management, and user trust, particularly in the context of emerging technologies like blockchain and AI, as well as the potential for enhanced e-government identification and balanced approaches to anonymity.
Future of digital autonomy explores how evolving geopolitical trends, platform power dynamics and emerging technologies impact the EU’s role in the platform economy of the future. Will Europe be among the architects of the global platform economy or will it stay in the backseat? Who will control key digital infrastructures and who will set the rules and technological standards? How are digital platforms tied to the growing security threats? These are the key questions that we will explore together in this foresight session.
By participating in this session, you’ll collaborate with fellow future architects to:
1. Master foresight methodologies, elevating your predictive prowess.
2. Forge bonds with thought leaders across industries.
3. Gain exclusive access to the next workshop with EU policymakers.
4. Engage in discussions that will directly inform new European Commision’s strategic agenda.
5. Unlock unparalleled insights into the future of platform economics.
The online foresight sessions are being organised as part of the Participatory Foresight into Next Generation Platforms, a 2-year research odyssey during which the future of a total of 10 topics are explored in collaboration with experts, industry leaders, policymakers and civil society representatives.
Join us to explore trends and future uncertainties shaping online privacy, identity and anonymity as well as digital autonomy together!
