Research into precarious employment

In January - February, 2016, PPMI conducted a case study on precarious employment in Lithuania. The case study was a part of a European project "Precarious employment: patterns, trends and policy strategies in Europe" commissioned by the European Parliament and implemented by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES). The project aimed to examine underlying causes of precarious employment and assess policy answers. The Lithuanian case study analysed the nature, trends and key drivers related with precarious work and also examined policy measures that the Lithuanian government and social partners use to curb precarious work. PPMI researchers collected evidence for the analysis by reviewing relevant literature and conducting six interviews with representatives from the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, the State Labour Inspectorate and social partner organisations.
