Growth and employment: anticipating and managing the effects of greening of industries in the EU

The main objective of the study was to analyse best practice examples of anticipation and management of the green transition at company level in the following ten sectors across the EU: the automotive, energy, chemical, distribution and trade, transport, non-metallic materials, furniture, textiles, construction and shipbuilding. The following activities were implemented in the project to reach this objective:

• Summarise the available macro and sectoral level data and research on current and anticipated trends of the greening in ten targeted sectors. Summary will help to estimate the growth potential of the green and greening jobs in these sectors and their subsectors in the next 10 to 15 years;
• Conduct interviews and on-line survey of the main stakeholders;
• Carry out 20 company case studies focusing on best practices of strengthening clean and sustainable competitiveness and of striving to increase both the quantity and quality of productive and sustainable jobs. The special interest was in studding collaborative approaches involving the social partners, public authorities, education and training providers and NGOs; and
• To assist in selection and quality control of about 30 case studies provided by Eurofound's network of corespondents and Eurofound.
