Analysis of the perception of the EU and EU's policies abroad
In December, 2015 with the help of partner organisations – the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE) of the University of Canterbury and the NFG Research Group of the Freie Universität Berlin, PPMI completed the study ‘Analysis of the Perception of the EU and EU’s Policies Abroad’. It was commissioned by the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI4).
The study, coordinated by PPMI and implemented with the partner organisations and expert teams in each of the target countries, provides an analysis of the perceptions of EU and Europe in ten Strategic Partner countries – Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, South Africa, and the US. The evidence for the analysis draws on a review of relevant literature, media and social media analysis, a public opinion poll and elite interviews. PPMI and partner organisations presented the findings to a Commission–appointed Steering Group and invited stakeholders at the European External Action Service in November. The project team also prepared a comprehensive report to be used internally by the Commission and its agencies. Recommendations of the study will inform EU Public Diplomacy efforts in the framework of the Partnership Instrument in the ten strategic partner countries and globally.
