In September 2022, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) contracted PPMI for the first time to conduct a ‘Final Evaluation for the EU-IOM Joint Initiative for migrant protection and reintegration in the horn of Africa’. The EU-IOM Joint Initiative on Migrant Protection and Reintegration was launched in 2016 to save, protect and assist migrants, who were travelling along key migrant routes in Africa. In the Horn of Africa, the programme helped four countries – Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and Djibouti- ensure a safe route for travelling migrants.
PPMI will conduct the final independent evaluation of the EU-IOM Joint Initiative, focusing on relevance, coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability. The analysis will use already collected data, regional and national interviews, surveys and focus group discussions. PPMI's conclusions and recommendations will help IOM with its follow-up programme in the region, which will formally start in 2023
