PPMI to implement a second wave survey on digital labour workers

In June 2018, PPMI commenced the implementation of the second wave of COLLEEM survey of European digital platform workers. The service contract was awarded by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC). As part of the contract we will design and implement an online panel survey to gather knowledge from EU citizens/ service providers participating in digital labour platform activities. The survey will cover 16 countries in the EU with 2,300 responses from each country, yielding an overall of 36,800 responses collected.

Last year, PPMI also implemented the first wave of COLLEEM survey, covering 14 EU countries and over 32 thousand respondents in total. The data collected in 2017 addressed the lack of official statistics on employment via digital labour platforms. The JRC’s analysis based on it improve the understanding of who the EU citizens/ service providers working on digital labour platforms are, their motivations for using digital labour platforms, the type of work they carry out and remuneration they derive from these activities.

The report can be accessed here.

The second survey wave will be completed by the end of November 2018.
